- Selected Text: Text you select and choose to transform using our app
- API Configuration: Your OpenAI and Gemini API keys (stored locally on your device)
- App Preferences: Your selected tone and AI model preferences (stored locally)
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely for:
- Transforming your selected text according to your chosen tone
- Communicating with AI services (OpenAI and Gemini) to process transformations
- Remembering your app preferences and settings
3. Data Sharing and Third Parties
When you use Xenoglossy to transform text, your selected text is sent to:
Important: We do not store, log, or have access to your text. It is sent directly from your device to the chosen AI service and the response is returned directly to you.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- No Cloud Storage: We do not store your text or personal data on our servers
- Local Storage Only: API keys and preferences are stored locally on your Mac
- Temporary Processing: Text is processed in memory only and not persisted
- No Analytics: We do not collect usage analytics or tracking data
5. Permissions and Access
Xenoglossy requests the following macOS permissions:
- Accessibility: To read selected text across applications and simulate keystrokes for pasting transformed text
- Clipboard Access: To temporarily store transformed text for pasting
These permissions are used only for the core functionality of text transformation and are never used to collect or transmit data for other purposes.
6. Security
We implement security measures to protect your information:
- API keys are stored securely in your Mac's keychain
- All communications with AI services use encrypted HTTPS connections
- No persistent storage of your text content
- App runs with minimal necessary permissions
7. Children's Privacy
Xenoglossy is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. International Users
By using Xenoglossy, you consent to the transfer of your text data to AI services that may be located outside your country of residence, including the United States.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
- Updating the "Last updated" date
- Providing in-app notification for significant changes

11. Data Controllers
When you use Xenoglossy:
- For app functionality: Zhaonian Luan (app developer) is the data controller
- For AI processing: OpenAI and Google are independent data controllers for text sent to their services
